If you are looking for a lovely intimate setting for a small wedding, consider the Rogers House Inn in Lincoln.
The Rogers House is on Moments in Time Images‘ list of favorite Lincoln wedding venues.
This stately mansion built in 1914 is a bed and breakfast inn situated near downtown Lincoln. In addition to serving bed and breakfast customers, The Rogers House has a thriving wedding business.
Owner Nora Houtsma says weddings are held in the inn’s living room parlor area. When chairs are set up, up to 60 guests can attend the wedding.
The Rogers House has hosted weddings for 31 years, and Houtsma says she loves to offer the entire house to the bride and groom, wedding party and families. The main house has seven guest rooms, including three suites with jetted tubs. In addition to its main house, there is a separate building with four additional rooms.
The Rogers House at 2145 B St. makes its living room, dining room, sunroom and yard areas available for weddings of up to 60 people between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. Couples can choose their own caterer and bring in whatever food and drink they want. The cost for this is $295. There is no requirement to stay at the inn for this option.
Those wanting an overnight stay for the bridal party with a full breakfast can rent the entire mansion for $245 plus the rental of the seven guest rooms. The average room rate is $119. The two-course gourmet breakfast can be served privately in your room or on the main floor.
Want to know a little more about the house itself? It was built by banker N.C. Rogers as a retirement mansion. He built a parlor living room, dining room, library, three sun rooms, two master bedrooms, two guest rooms, seven bathroom areas, maid’s quarters and a third floor ballroom.
The house stayed with the Rogers family until 1968, when it became a fraternity house. When the fraternity disbanded, the house was used as a home for the mentally challenged. Houtsma and two partners bought it in 1983, restored it and opened it in 1984 as an inn. In 1991 the house next door was put up for sale, and it was purchased as an addition to the Inn. That house is now called The West House.
The Rogers House, complete with antique furnishings, is a popular setting for couples of all ages who want a small, simple wedding, Houtsma said. Some couples getting married for the second time choose The Rogers House for its simplicity, but many couples getting married for the first time choose it as well. Couples love the historical setting and elegant look of the parlor living room
In addition to weddings, the inn can host other events as well, including prenuptual dinners, wedding or baby showers, retreats, receptions and family reunions.
