Welcome to my blog. On this page you will find articles I personally write about the photography industry and my work. You will also see blogs showing the photos from many of my photo sessions.
Pre-engagement wedding planning apparently is pretty common.
According to a study from WeddingPro, most couples – 85 percent – think about their wedding before they get engaged.
The most common topics considered prior to engagement include the style of wedding, how many people will be there, the time of year it will be scheduled, and the reception location.
These couples are doing more than talking to their partner about their preferences. About two-thirds have taken action to plan their wedding, such as researching wedding vendors.
Almost half of pre-engaged women use Pinterest, with top pins being wedding décor and styles, dresses and flowers. These women commonly have created a Pinterest board with wedding ideas.
In addition, 50 percent have looked at wedding dresses and other wedding-related attire online.
About one-third have done some research on the cost of weddings and another third have researched wedding venues. Nearly one-fourth have begun to create a guest list, and 20 percent have checked the availability and cost of particular venues.
My thoughts on all this? Hey, I say why not?
I think most couples getting engaged have an idea that they will be getting engaged. Likely they have talked about getting married and at least have a clue that it’s going to be happening.
What’s the harm in getting a jump start on the planning process. Particularly, I think it’s urgent to look into reception venues. In my estimation, that’s the first task to complete, as often that will determine the wedding date. These venues easily book up a year or more in advance, so there is no harm in making some calls to check availability.
As a wedding photographer, I think it’s also a good idea to take a look at wedding photographer websites to get an idea of whose work you really like. Photographers can book up quickly as well, so it doesn’t hurt to have a short list of those you like.
So realize that if you just got engaged and haven’t done any pre-engagement planning, there likely are some who have a head start on you.
