Welcome to my blog. On this page you will find articles I personally write about the photography industry and my work. You will also see blogs showing the photos from many of my photo sessions.
A short drive south of Lincoln one will find what they may consider a small piece of paradise. In fact, it’s called Avalon Event Paradise. This 32-acre property near Crete has been a lovely setting for nearly two dozen weddings since 2013 and is a favorite for Lincoln wedding venues.
The property consists of a home, where property manager Erin’s grandparents live, as well as a 12-acre lake with an island and lots of green space.
The process of turning a residence into a place for weddings happened after Erin and her husband decided it would be a nice place to get married. They decorated the property for their wedding and had so much fun doing it that they decided to do it again.
The family had been getting calls from family and friends who wanted to have weddings there, so they accommodated them. They built a website and Avalon Event Paradise was born.
The cost to rent the venue for a half a day is $1,500. This four-hour time slot is designed for those who want to hold a wedding ceremony but not a reception.
The cost for a full day event is $3,000. This package is required to have a reception at Avalon due to the amount of time it takes to prepare, set up and tear down.
A wedding party can book the venue for an entire weekend for $5,000. They would have full access to the property beginning at noon Thursday with a checkout time of 3 p.m. Sunday. The boathouse on the property is prepared for those who wish to sleep there or hold a rehearsal dinner.
Couples will have access to the boathouse, the island and tent sites with these packages. Tent rental is not included. The boathouse is a lovely home-like setting with a big living room and large windows that provide a great view of the lake. There is a wraparound deck that overlooks the lake. The boat house includes a kitchen.
Weddings take place on the island which is accessed by walking over a wooden bridge. The bridge serves as the walkway for the wedding party as the wedding begins. Rows of chairs are placed around the island and there’s room for as many as 350 guests.
One reviewer said the property gave her a fairytale wedding and a “dream come true.”
The family has opted not to do a large number of weddings and is rather selective in the weddings it chooses. The family also tries to be considerate of neighbors so as to not subject them with loud noises that are possible at a wedding reception.
Avalon Event Paradise also hosts other events, like parties, showers, reunions and retreats.
