Welcome to my blog. On this page you will find articles I personally write about the photography industry and my work. You will also see blogs showing the photos from many of my photo sessions.
This time of year there are many newly engaged couples. One of the first tasks a couple should take for their wedding is hiring photographer.
Wedding photographers book up months if not more than a year in advance. If there is a particular photographer you want, it’s all the more reason to book early. If you aren’t particular, you probably have a little more time.
Many factors go into hiring a photographer. The first is cost. Photographers vary widely in price. In our area, you can find a wedding photographer for $500 and one for $5,000. The price difference is more than anything due to experience. Photographers who have been in the business for a long time and have a lot of demand have the leeway to charge higher prices.
We at Moments in Time Images started our prices lower, then have increased them with time as we have gained more experience. I would say right now our prices are on the moderate side. We like to offer options, so that is why we have three packages starting at a lower price and moving toward a higher price. With each option comes more time give to the couple and more features.
Another factor to consider is the style of photos you want. Some photographers are traditionalists while others are more documentary and more edgy. As a traditionalist photographer, Moments in Time Images looks for the classic moments of every wedding and captures those. We do the traditional bride and groom poses and family portraits. I like to think of us also as a little on the documentary side. As a former journalist, I like telling a story, and I like my photography to tell a story as well.
When you are hiring a photographer, look for one where your personalities mesh. You don’t want to have someone you feel uncomfortable around, and the photographer doesn’t want that to. You’ll get the best photos if you and your photographer blend well together.
