Welcome to my blog. On this page you will find articles I personally write about the photography industry and my work. You will also see blogs showing the photos from many of my photo sessions.
When you are selling your house, you want great pictures.
How many times have you looked at a house for sale listing and seen less than stellar photos? I’m guessing if you look at these listings, it’s pretty frequent.
Whether you are listing your home with a real estate agent or selling it yourself, you should considering hiring a photographer to shoot photos. Unfortunately, few do.
In addition to being a photographer, I also have my real estate license. This gives me opportunity to look at listings in the multiple listing service. I am often amazed at the poor quality of photos that are uploaded to the MLS that are to represent houses for sale.
Granted, all houses look different. Some look great, some don’t. It can be difficult to make an attracting looking photo when the structure itself isn’t attractive.
However, steps can be taken to make photos make a house look the best it has ever looked. As an agent, my goal is to make houses that I have opportunity to list look wonderful in the photos? Why? It’s because when people go to look at listings – what do they look at first? The photos! Curious about the photos on this page? Click here for the listing.

Well, maybe they look at the price first but then they go right to the photos. If the photos aren’t appealing to them, they’ll look right beyond that listing and move onto another.
I continue to be amazed at how many real estate agents market their listings with photos they have taken from a simple point and shoot camera or worse yet, from their phones. There are no wide angle lenses used, which can make rooms look tight. They often have bad lighting, which can make houses look bad.
Here are some tips for making your house look great in photos:
First, declutter the house. The more stuff you have in your photos, the worse the house will look. You want a clean look in your photos.
Second, use a wide angle lens. These lenses allow more of the scene in the picture so you can usually get an entire room in the shot.
Try not to shoot into the corner of an empty room. This is not an attractive look to buyers. At least put something in the corner to stage the room.

Finally, consider hiring a professional photographer to shoot your photos. They have the right equipment and the knowledge to make your photos look great.
