Welcome to my blog. On this page you will find articles I personally write about the photography industry and my work. You will also see blogs showing the photos from many of my photo sessions.
This is the time of year that many couples get engaged, so here are some wedding FAQs. After the ring is presented and proposal accepted, the planning begins and you will have plenty of questions.
Hiring a wedding photographer is one of the first tasks at hand. This article is a list of frequently asked questions newly engaged couples may have about hiring a photographer.
This solely depends on whether you have a particular photographer in mind or whether you are open in your selection. If there is a photographer you know for sure you want, then book that photographer as soon as possible. Photographers can book up a year or more in advance. If, however, you don’t have a strong preference who you hire, you can afford to wait. There will always be photographers who have your date open, even late in the game. Most brides book their photographer nine to 12 months in advance.
The first step is to look at past photos a photographer has taken. Do you like them? Does the style of this photographer resonate with you? Some people like photos light and bright while others don’t like the light and airy look. Look for a photographer whose work you really like. Also make sure you feel comfortable around the photographer. Either meet in person or talk on the phone before you decide who to hire to make sure your personalities mesh.
It’s great to meet in person prior to the wedding but not necessary. Most of my brides have engagement shoots so I meet them for the first time then. It’s increasingly common to not meet the bride and groom before I’m hired for a wedding. I do, however, think a phone call to chat is a great idea.
Go over your day and decide what you want photographed? Do you want pictures of you getting your hair and makeup done or getting dressed? How much of the reception to you want photographed? Answering these questions will help you determine the answer to this question.
This likely will depend on the photographer you choose and the number of hours you hire the photographer. You should expect several hundred.
In my view not really, but that is up to you. You will get more photos with a second photographer, but a single photographer can handle the job just fine. If you do want a second, realize you will have to pay more.
