Welcome to my blog. On this page you will find articles I personally write about the photography industry and my work. You will also see blogs showing the photos from many of my photo sessions.
As owner of Lori Black Photography, I have been in business for several years. I have to say that 2021 was the best year ever in the history of my business.
I photographed more weddings, more families and more senior high school students than ever before. It was truly an amazing year, and quite honestly, 2022 looks even better.
My wedding schedule didn’t start that early. My first wedding was in mid-March, when Roxana and Devin had a small, intimate ceremony and reception at The Event Space at 5550.
The next wedding wasn’t until May 1, but they came one right after the next at that point. Some were huge, lavish affairs, and some were simple ceremonies in the back yard. It seemed that more people just wanted to be married, and didn’t care so much about the wedding itself.
Still, there were plenty of long wedding days. Most were in Lincoln, but I also traveled to Fairbury, Omaha and Nebraska City. Some weddings included vidography and some did not. A small number were just video only.
Then there were the family photo sessions. The year 2021 seemed to be the year families wanted their photos taken, as I had more family sessions than ever before. Some family sessions were just mom, dad and baby, while some were older parents, middle-aged children and grandchildren. It was so much fun getting to know some of these families and providing them with photos they adore.
And I can’t forget the seniors. I love shooting senior photos, and I did a lot of them 2021. I thoroughly enjoy meeting these young people and learning more about them, and all of them were such a joy to work with.
As I look forward to 2022, I can honestly say my wedding schedule is just about fully booked, and they are starting much earlier. Weddings in January and March are on my books, and I even have people wanting family photos and couples photos in January. Let’s hope the weather cooperates.
