Historical venues are some of the best spots for weddings. It’s incredible to write the next chapter in your love story on a site that’s been so significant for countless others over the years. And while Lincoln has a fascinating history, there are few places with as rich a past as Robber’s Cave. The Robber’s Cave in Lincoln, NE is a modern above-ground venue with plenty of locations and endless accommodations for your wedding. Meanwhile, the space underneath is one of the most fascinating spots in all of the wild West.
Underground, Robber’s Cave has lived many lives. It was a gambler’s hide-out, a concert venue, brewery storage, a daycare, and a party spot for restless college students. It’s had quite the life since its discovery in the 1860s, and today, it’s finally getting the respect it deserves.
The land was recognized as a National Historical spot in 2020. The venue rests just on top of the caves and gives you exclusive access. If you want a venue with a story, this one’s for you!
Robber’s Cave has three different indoor spaces that you can use for your wedding. The James Room is modern and industrial, with vaulted ceilings and bistro lights. The Scarborough Room and The Sandstone Room are both a bit more rustic, with wooden beams and modern lighting. Outside, the Dakota Theater is a grassy space with an open shelter perfect for exchanging vows.
The venue can easily transform the indoor spaces into reception spots with plenty of space for celebrating. For those wanting a larger reception, you can combine the James Room and the Scarborough Room.
While there are multiple spaces to hold a cocktail hour in the indoor locations, the covered deck attached to the Sandstone Room is a favorite spot in temperate weather.
The Hideaway is available to get ready for your ceremony. This roomy space has polished counters, mirrors, and plenty of comfortable furniture for your wedding party.
Combined, the James Room and the Scarborough Room will fit up to 330 guests. The James Room on its own will hold 220 guests, while the Scarborough room will hold up to 80. The Sandstone Room will also seat up to 80 people. Outside, the Dakota Theater will hold up to 400 guests.
The indoor spaces have neutral white walls and high ceilings. Outside, the theater is encased with a white picket fence and has open views.
The venue allows all weddings the opportunity to use the caves for unique photos. It’s a one-of-a-kind space for bridal portraits and wedding party pictures. The exterior deck is lovely for airy images, while windows throughout the venue allow in natural light.
Yes Chef Catering provides catering for Robber’s Cave with plenty of buffet options. The venue handles setup and clean-up and allows rentals from outside companies. Furthermore, the venue can give your party a fantastic tour of the caves below.
