Welcome to my blog. On this page you will find articles I personally write about the photography industry and my work. You will also see blogs showing the photos from many of my photo sessions.
What is it about photobooths that bring out the child in grown adults?
Moments in Time Images has a new photobooth and used it at a wedding this last weekend. It was our second go-around of doing a photo booth. The first time we had the props and the backdrop but not an actual booth. Now we have the booth. I was amazed both times how popular this was.
I have always been a little baffled by these booths. I always found it a little silly putting on goofy hats, glasses, fake mustaches, etc., and having a photo taken. I resisted going into this. But as I saw the popularity of these continue, I felt it was time for Moments in Time Images to jump on the bandwagon.
So I set it up at my wedding on Sunday and was amazed how many people came over to put on a costume and get inside. Of course it’s expected to see children love this kind of stuff, but grown adults love it too. Even senior citizens! I had several seniors use the photobooth at this wedding.
I’m interested to understand the appeal. Maybe there’s just something fun about looking through the props and deciding what to put on. Maybe it’s a temporary escape from reality. One thing I do know — lots of brides and grooms want this outlet at their wedding reception. They feel it brings more fun to the event, and they’re willing to pay extra to bring this entertainment to their guests.
Some photographers offer photobooths, but there are companies also that this is all they do. They have the fancy booths with the machines and the printers that spit out strips of images.
Moments In Time Images’ photobooth isn’t fancy like some of these others, but I can say now that it’s fun.
