Welcome to my blog. On this page you will find articles I personally write about the photography industry and my work. You will also see blogs showing the photos from many of my photo sessions.

We went to an old abandoned house to shoot photos.
What will I do to get the desired photo? Well after this weekend quite a bit.
I was a little bruised and battered after a senior photo shoot this weekend but we both had a great time. I was working with Claire, a pretty Lincoln senior. I could tell Claire is adventurous. She loves the outdoors, nature and out-of-the way places.
We started our shoot at Wilderness Park – a huge park in Lincoln that is exactly what the name suggests – wilderness. We parked and walked through a bit of wilderness to some interesting tree formations to get our first photos.
This is also where I had my first accident. I stepped over a tree limb on the ground to get a few shots. As I was stepping back over it, my legs didn’t quite go high enough. I tripped and fell face down. The light in my hand went flying, but thankfully no significant damage. I wasn’t hurt except for a bump on my leg. We continued on.
The next venue was even more challenging. We went to an old, abandoned house that for some unknown reason still stands. It was a complete wreck, and frankly very creepy. Claire liked it for several reasons, including the fact that the house is on Claire Street in Lincoln.
We stepped onto a dilapidated porch, climbing over a dirty mattress in the entrance way. We found a nice window that made for some pretty photos. In the process of walking around the porch, a floor board collapsed and one of my legs fell about two feet below. Luckily I didn’t drop any equipment, and the only damage was some dirty jeans.
My main worry in walking around this house was that we would run into some rats, but that never happened. What did happen is we got some nice pictures that seem to reflect Claire’s personality. I think they were just what she wanted.
How far will I go to get the photos desired? I think pretty far. Claire even thanked me for not being too afraid to walk around this creepy property.
