Welcome to my blog. On this page you will find articles I personally write about the photography industry and my work. You will also see blogs showing the photos from many of my photo sessions.
Achieving bridal poses that make you look great can be challenging. Even though your wedding photographer will guide you every step of the way, it doesn’t hurt to know a few tricks yourself.
As a wedding photographer, I do my best to put my clients in flattering poses that they will love. Some clients help me out by striking their own pose without any guidance from me. I love that! But don’t worry if you don’t have the talent to know how to pose. Feel free to practice some poses before the wedding, but trust your photographer to help you.
Here are some tips for brides if they want to give this a try.
Putting your hands on your hips is something you do all the time, but think about doing it in your photos. It makes you look great. Extend one leg in front of the other and place your corresponding hand on your hip. Slightly angle your body toward the camera for a slimming effect.
Know your best side
Spend some time in front of the mirror to discover the best side of your face. Everyone has a best side. Make sure you show your best side in front of the camera.
How you sit makes a big difference in your photos. One of the best poses is crossing your legs at the ankle. For an extra slimming effect, slightly draw your arms and shoulders inward.
Soft lights and natural lights are best for hiding minor imperfections. Make sure that the room you are getting ready in doesn’t have any harsh lighting. Do your best to find some natural window light when going in front of the camera.
Photos of brides should be taken at eye level or above. Your photographer should avoid low angles, as they are less flattering. It can lead to shots that make it appear you have a double chin.
