Chez Hay Catering is both a catering vendor and a venue space available for wedding rentals and other events. Chez Hay is owned and operated by couple Sean and Starr Carmichael, who have an extensive background in catering and cooking up innovative creations.
Chef Sean received a culinary degree from Colorado Art Institute in Denver before moving back to work in and operate several restaurants, including Inn Harms Way and J. Finnegan’s, before opening Chez Hay Catering, where he has been for over 17 years. It was in 2018 that he opened their eatery ChezSoDo. Chez Hay Catering’s event space is located in downtown Lincoln and offers an urban setting for any wedding or event.
The Chez Hay Catering event venue space serves as a basic canvas for your decorations and customizations on your wedding day. The room features tons of natural light, exposed brick walls, a wooden dance floor, a tall ceiling, and a remarkable city view.
The Chez Hay event space has a 140 max capacity of guests.

The venue’s open walls and wooden dance floor are perfect for portrait shots and beautiful action shots that capture the warmth and romance of the event. The venue space has a few amenities listed above but is a space where you can be creative and bring in your own rentals and certain vendors. Chez Hay does have an event team to help orchestrate and plan every detail of your wedding to make it perfect!

Some appetizer options include mushroom and goat cheese crostinis, bruschetta with Roma tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, prosciutto, antipasto platters, figs stuffed with blue cheese, and apple pie tartlets. The carving station can include roast tenderloin of beef, roast pork loin, roast turkey, and sides like wild rice, a smoked salmon platter, and a penne pasta salad.
The dinner buffet has a wide variety of options, including kid’s meals, and the seated dinner meal options include a more refined palate with options ranging from sea bass in lemon prosciutto sauce to filet mignon with blackberry currant sauce. Dessert options range from cheesecake bars to dessert buffets that feature chocolate fondue, tartlets, and macaroons.
