Welcome to my blog. On this page you will find articles I personally write about the photography industry and my work. You will also see blogs showing the photos from many of my photo sessions.
When deciding to schedule an event such as a wedding, one of the first steps is choosing a venue. People today have lots of options. Indoor places are plentiful. Outside venues, while perhaps not as plentiful as indoor, still are numerous.
Of course the first option for many is whether the venue is available on a particular date. Many people, particularly future brides and grooms, choose their wedding date based on whether the venue they like is available.
If you want a wedding date in a popular month, book early as they book up quick. They can be booked perhaps a year or more in advance. Consider a Friday night or even a Sunday, as venues will be much more readily available, and perhaps even available at a lower cost.
Available party rooms, menus and relationships with other vendors can be important factors to consider when choosing a venue. The type of party desired will be a factor when choosing a venue. Do you want a casual event or a formal one? Try to find a place that meets all of your criteria.
It’s a good idea to visit different venues and take notes. If permitted, take photographs or at least look closely at the photographs they provide.
Location, price and atmosphere are important considerations. What mood do you want to set? Narrow down the spaces that fit your criteria.
Other things to consider are whether there are private fully-staffed areas for guests to enjoy, a large selection of food and drinks, and whether ample parking is available. Downtown venues create the issue of parking, particularly on a busy Saturday night. Make sure when you choose your venue you find out where your guests can park.
Don’t select a venue that is too large or too small. Too much space or not enough space can make guests uncomfortable. If you don’t like the venue, then your guests won’t either. The trick is to find the venue you want. Don’t just settle.
Again, taking notes and taking pictures will make it easier to compare. Speak with event coordinators, as this will give you lots of important information.
Consider location, as this can play an important factor. Determine the price and what is included in that cost. Decide whether that atmosphere fits the party. Other considerations include what entertainment is allowed, decorations and whether there can be a tasting of the food.
People often are looking for venues that provide everything at one location. That will eliminate a lot of legwork, as things can be set up and done easily. People looking for party venues have lots of options today, whether inside or outside. Choosing a venue shouldn’t be difficult or time consuming.
