Welcome to my blog. On this page you will find articles I personally write about the photography industry and my work. You will also see blogs showing the photos from many of my photo sessions.
As you set out choosing your wedding photographer – remember you have a lot of options. Booking your photographer should not be rushed. You want to make sure you find the person that will best capture the perfect images of your perfect day.
Here are three tips that should help you choose your perfect wedding photographer
Some wedding photographers will try to impress you by showing you a slideshow or an album of their best wedding photos. To be honest, I have done that before myself. However, it is important for you to realize that seeing the best photos isn’t going to give you a good enough idea of what you can expect from this photographer. Instead, ask to see a variety of shots from different parts of a wedding so that you know exactly what you can expect. A photographer should show you photos from the wedding prep to the reception. You will want to see shots of the ceremony, the toasts and details.
Consider the various styles of wedding photography. Some photographers consider themselves artistic. Others focus on dramatic shots while others take a lifestyle or classic approach. Determine what style works best for you and make sure the photographer you choose can provide that style.
You want to like the personality of your wedding photographer. Other than your soon-to-be spouse, this is the person that you will spend the most time with on that day, so it’s important for you to feel comfortable with him or her. When a couple doesn’t feel comfortable around their wedding photographer, it will show in their photos, but the opposite holds true too. A good photographer will know how to make you feel at ease, will guide you on how to pose before and on your wedding day, and will always be willing to answer any questions that you might have.
Make sure the photographer you choose has enough experience photographing a wedding. All photographers have that initial first wedding, and they probably won’t tell you that yours is their very first wedding. However you should be able to get an idea of their experience by looking at their work. How many photos do you see on their website and how many different people are in those photos? Also consider what types of weddings they have photographed. Consider specific circumstances for your wedding, such as lighting requirements for example, and determine whether the photographer you are considering can handle that. Make a list of your requirements before you meet with your photographer so that you can make sure there won’t be any potential problems leading up to the wedding once the finer details are discussed.
While price does play a role in choosing a photographer, basing your choice on these top three elements is far more important. Your wedding photos are something you’ll treasure for years to come so take the time to choose a photographer that can best capture these amazing memories.
