Welcome to my blog. On this page you will find articles I personally write about the photography industry and my work. You will also see blogs showing the photos from many of my photo sessions.
Finding engagement shoot venues is very important to many couples who are getting married. Finding engagement shoot venues can be the most challenging, but one of the most important decisions.
Before choosing venues, decide what type of look you want. Do you want a look that says urban, nature, floral or perhaps historical?
I’ve shoot a variety of engagement photo sessions and selected a lot of locations. Most have been in Lincoln and in Omaha. Some of the places I’ve been include Pioneers Park, Holmes Lake, Sunken Gardens and the Haymarket in Lincoln. Omaha sites have included the Old Market and a variety of parks too many to mention.
I highly recommend choosing engagement shoot venues that are meaningful to the couple, not just a pretty place. An experienced photographer can make almost any location look great. It’s not just the setting, it’s the tools used during the shoot, the poses and the couple themselves.
Rather than focusing on having a pretty background, choose a location that tells your story. Years from now when you look back on this time, you’ll want it to be about more than just frolicking in the park.
One example of this that I recently experienced was with a couple that got engaged at Mahoney State Park. They wanted to go back there to get their engagement photos taken. This not only made it easy, but made the photo session more special to them.
Before scheduling your engagement session, take a little time and think about your favorite places to spend time together. Even if it’s not picturesque, I promise that you won’t regret doing your engagement session in a spot that is special to you.
