Welcome to my blog. On this page you will find articles I personally write about the photography industry and my work. You will also see blogs showing the photos from many of my photo sessions.
The so-called “first look” between a bride and groom before their wedding is a wildly popular trend. It used to be that brides and grooms wouldn’t see each other until she walks down the aisle during the ceremony. A growing number of couples are seeing that that option is not often very practical. That’s because they need to have a family photo session and usually don’t have time to do the session right after the ceremony because their receptions guests await them. So a majority are turning to the first look, which is an intimate moment sometime before the ceremony and the photo session for a bride and groom to see each other. It can be a very special moment for them.
But not all first looks are between the bride and groom. There is a growing trend in weddings for brides to have a first look with her father as well. That moment between the daughter and the father who sees his daughter for the first time in all her wedding finery can be priceless. Fathers walk their daughters down the aisle. They “give them away.” There are songs written about the relationship between father and daughters who are getting married. Fathers dance with their daughters at the receptions. The father-daughter first look is just one more special moment on this special day.
Brides can spend the entire morning of their wedding day preparing their look. They get their hair done and their makeup done. Then they get into their dress and they are all ready for this day they have been waiting for. Many like to have a special time for their father to see them in their dresses. So they arrange a special location where their father waits for them and they meet and have that first look. Again, this can be a very emotional and intimate moment between fathers and daughters.
Moments in Time Images just photographed a first look between a father and daughter. The father waited in a room with his back to the door. The bride walked in, tapped her father on the shoulder and they shared an embrace. The father got misty eyed and wiped tears with a tissue. It was a very special moment, one no doubt will be remembered forever by each of them. Fathers can react differently to this moment. Some men don’t like to show emotion, but we guarantee you if they aren’t showing they’re feeling it inside. Often the bride can’t hold back her tears as well.
We think this is a great idea and makes perfect sense. Why not create moments rather than let them pass? A first look between a bride and groom will be a forever moment, but so will that look between father and daughter.
