Linsey had a very memorably couple of days back in 2011 that culminates in her engagement story.
One day she had her wisdom teeth out. The next she met the love of her life. It probably goes without saying that the second day was a better one.
It was October 2011 that Linsey experienced the removal of her wisdom teeth. Lucky for her, she had no ill effects and no swelling, especially since the next day was going to be important.
Linsey and her mother traveled from Blue Hill to Wahoo for a family reunion and checked into a hotel there. The front desk clerk was a young man by the name of Ryan. Some instant attraction happened between Linsey and Ryan.
They checked into their room and took part in the family reunion. Linsey was glad she had her dog with her, because it gave her an excuse to leave her room, go through the lobby and go outside with the pooch.
In Linsey’s words, “I took the dog out 20 times so I could see him.”
After the reunion Linsey went back home without much opportunity to spend a lot of time with Ryan. Thankfully, her great aunt worked at the hotel as well and knew Ryan was smitten as well. She gave Ryan Linsey’s phone number and he called her.
Despite her interest, Linsey played it cool. Her stepdad answered the call and took a message. Linsey decided to keep Ryan waiting a bit, following a textbook recipe for being somewhat coy. After a couple days she called Ryan and they had a great conversation.
Ryan traveled to Blue Hill to see Linsey. You can probably guess there’s not a lot to do in in the little town of Blue Hill, so their first date was primarily staying at Linsey’s mother’s house and talking. They stayed up until 5 a.m. one night, engrossed in conversation. For them it was a perfect date because neither of them are real big in going out on the town.
The dates continued and it came to the time to take it to the next step. Ryan made dinner for both of them, put roses on the table, and in Linsey’s words, was acting a little awkward. Linsey had an idea of what was coming but nonetheless was overwhelmed when Ryan bent down on one knee and asked her to become his wife.
That was April 14, 2014. A great engagement story. Their wedding is planned for this coming Sept. 15 in Lincoln, where they both live.
