What are the trends this wedding season?

Classic dresses with lots of lace. Fitted. Big cascading bouquets.

Look for a lot of lace on wedding dresses. It’s part of a classic style that frankly will never go out of style. Lace will be everywhere — not just on bridal gowns but on bridesmaids dresses as well. Charcoal gray is the most popular color of bridesmaids dresses, and an equal split between short to floor length is expected.

The traditional strapless gown will be popular but so will dresses with straps and sleeves. Low backs styles are big, and many brides are choosing dresses that bare the entire back. These backless dresses are popular with form-fitting sheath styles.

Headbands that can be placed across the forehead will be in demand, often in place of tiaras. Sashes will include lots of rhinestones and opals. For jewelry, brides will find fewer silver options as the trend is now toward gold and rose gold, which has a pink tint to it.

Many brides will opt for the fit and flair silhouette style, which is fitted to the hipline then flairs. Ivory is the most predominant color. Today’s ivory has less yellow and more is flattering than every before. Another popular color is called light gold, similar to a champagne color.

For men, suits are gaining popularity. Rather then pay for a rental, some men are opting to buy a nice suit that they can wear again. Dark suits, particularly charcoal, are predominant. Men often choose bright colors for their ties and socks. Colors of nature are popular as well, as are animal prints.

Many brides are going back to the classics for their flowers. They are choosing an all-white look with roses or gardenias along with big cascading bouquets. Brides often want flowers that have more meaning to them, even flowers that are symbolic. Some tie in meaning by adding a grandmother’s locket or something similar into the bouquet.
