Welcome to my blog. On this page you will find articles I personally write about the photography industry and my work. You will also see blogs showing the photos from many of my photo sessions.
Remember photo albums?
I have a shelf full of these books in my basement. Some are very old, showing me as a child. Some were from my time in college and early adulthood. I love looking through those albums and would really love to just have a day where I could do nothing but look through albums. Unfortunately, I don’t take the time to do it like I would like.
Which brings me to the point of this article. It seems to me that people don’t put together photo albums anymore. Every photo taken seems to just stay in digital form on the computer. I photograph weddings and I don’t think one couple who have hired me to shoot their wedding have asked for an album.
I watch a lot of online photography classes, and the teachers of those classes continually talk about making wedding albums. I’ve never really thought much about them because my clients have not demanded them. I’m starting to think, though, that I need to encourage more of my clients to get an album.
I have no doubt that many of these clients will say they will make their own in time. How many actually would do it? I suspect few. It’s easy to get those digital images and look through them, then put them away for future reference. How many people actually take those photos and make an album with them? And even if they do, most would I suspect make a cheaper photo book rather than an expensive one.
I’m beginning to think it is very important to get a photo album of wedding images. These albums last through time and can be passed down to children. It’s truly the best way to keep viewing these images. And you would have something to pass down to your children.
