Welcome to my blog. On this page you will find articles I personally write about the photography industry and my work. You will also see blogs showing the photos from many of my photo sessions.
Marriage proposals happen every day, but I suspect most of those people popping the question don’t hire a photographer.
A young man named Uriah did, however. He hired me to take photos of his proposal last week. What a fun event.
I met Uriah at the venue he had chosen to pop the question. While his girlfriend wasn’t told what was going on, Uriah wasn’t too concerned about me hiding as she approached him. However, I did my best to hide by standing behind a tree.
DJ arrived at the golf club and walked toward Uriah, who was waiting for her at this big tree out on the course. She admits she suspected what was happening, but didn’t let on as she met Uriah and the two embraced.
While behind the tree, I took photos of DJ walking toward Uriah. I took photos of the two of them talking, making sure I gave them plenty of distance so that I wasn’t imposing on their private moment. I captured the moment when Uriah got down on one knee and held the ring out to DJ.
After the moment, I took some romantic photos of the two of them together.
I suspect that most people don’t even think of hiring a photographer to capture this moment. Certainly, some do, but I think it’s an occasion that’s worth photographing. It’s a moment that couples would treasure.
I encourage more people to consider hiring a photographer for a wedding proposal. The photographer doesn’t necessarily have to be right on the scene. Today’s long lenses allow photographers to stand at a distance and still get close enough to take photos.
If you are planning a proposal, consider hiring a photographer. Photographing marriage proposals is a great idea! It’s a short time period so it shouldn’t cost you too much. The photos you receive will be well worth the investment.
