Chris and Claire Haag work to fight public perception dentistry is something to fear

Today’s culture has done a great job convincing the public that dentists are scary. We all know that culture – the one where people say they hate going to the dentist. They are afraid of the dentist. The dentist brings pain.

The Haags are doing his best to fight that perception by making Pioneer Greens Dentistry no place to be afraid of.

“If only our culture could do as good of a job convincing folks to take care of themselves (teeth included) we would be way less busy,” he said.

Haag practices with his wife, Claire Haag. He has been a dentist for 22 years and she for 24 years. Neither of them came from a family with dentists so he considers it a leap for both of them.

The Haags’ mission statement is to provide a dental home for patients and the community through exceptional service, education and progressive, innovative technology.

“Dentistry is a skill and not every dentist has the same skill level,” Haag said. “We really strive to continue to develop our craft. So by striving to be the best we can we have the knowledge to give the best options to our patients.”

Haag finds great satisfaction in relieving someone’s pain. When a person is in pain and comes to Pioneer Greens Dentistry with apprehension, it is satisfying to hear them say the visit wasn’t as bad as they thought it would be.

The fact that Pioneer Greens Dentistry is husband and wife owned gives patients a choice. Patients may mesh better with one person over the other. They also can change between dentists.

The office made a commitment to be on the leading edge of digital dentistry several years ago. The office has had the capability to fabricate crowns in one visit since 2001. It is one of the original adopters of a digital dental technology called CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) in Lincoln. Haag is a clinical trainer for new doctors who have adopted this technology.

The office has one of the first 3-D dental x-ray units called CBCT in Lincoln.

“We have had it for about seven years so we are way ahead of the curve there,” he said. It can be used to digitally plan implants pre-surgery to optimally place the implant to meet the specific situation.

Dentistry on display with Google Streetview Trusted

The Haags built their current office 11 years ago and believe it still looks nice and fresh. He says a person looking for a dental office should never settle for an outdated office. They should not settle for a dentist who does not keep up with modern techniques.

Haag is updating his website and wanted a Google Streetview Trusted virtual tour to be a part of it. He believes the tour will help increase the confidence of the public in his dental office.

“It lets people see the facility and hopefully they will be prompted to come in and find out the rest for themselves,” he said.
