Welcome to my blog. On this page you will find articles I personally write about the photography industry and my work. You will also see blogs showing the photos from many of my photo sessions.
My husband and I recently took our dogs to Platte River State Park and I found myself thinking “this would be a great place for a wedding.”
In fact, the park does do several weddings and has a variety of options. Here are a few facilities within the park available for weddings.
Mallet Lodge – This facility has a kitchen with major appliances, air conditioning and heating. It rents for $267.74 per day and rental hours are 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Maximum capacity is 125 people.
Decker Creek Lodge – the upper level of this lodge is available for rental but the facility does not have air conditioning. It rents for $97.74 from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and maximum capacity is 75.
Scott Lodge – this building which houses the park’s restaurant offers views of the Platte River. No kitchen is available, but a small sink and refrigerator are available. It rents for $267.75 per day and holds 100 people.
Amphitheater – The amphitheater is a popular place, holding 75 people. It rents for $107.74 per day.
The Ballfield – the ballfield rents for $57.74 per day and holds 100 people. Rental hours are 9 to 5.
Platte River State Park has 500 plus acres and is located between Omaha and Lincoln, three miles west of Louisville. The park is a picturesque setting with woodlands and rolling bluffs. Two observation towers allow visitors to climb up and get a glimpse of some spectacular views overlooking the Platte River.
Park rules require outdoor ceremonies to be completed by 5 p.m. and wedding receptions in the lodge must be over by 10 p.m. All caterers must be preapproved and an additional cost may be charged for using caterers outside the Platte River State Park Restaurant.

Platte River State Park also has an abundance of activities, including swimming, trail rides, canoeing and a shooting range.
