Choosing a venue for a wedding and/or wedding reception often is the most challenging part of planning a wedding. It’s usually the first thing you decide on after getting engaged.
There are many different options at many different price points. Most people in the business suggest that when you are looking for a venue, find one that’s easy to work with. The marketing and communications manager at Wilderness Ridge in Lincoln suggests it is important to be comfortable with the price of the venue and the amenities it offers. Planning a wedding is stressful so being comfortable with the people trying to help you — and trusting them — is imperative.
Research places you are thinking about. Read reviews and do some research online. That will help you make your decision.
When looking at price, look at what that price provides. Sometimes a price may seem high, but when you realize all the amenities that come with it, it might not be high after all.
Ask yourself what kind of theme or mood you want to set at your venue. Some may want a rustic setting while others may want a sophisticated one. Each venue will offer something different, so making that decision first will narrow down your options and reduce the amount of work and research you will need to do.
If you are on a tight budget, a wedding coordinator may be able to help keep the budget in line. A coordinator has relationships with a number of venues and can shop around to find the one that best suits your needs.
Remember to think about the food and catering options as well as audio-visual needs. Some venues provide you with the AV equipment you need while others may require you to bring your own. That is another cost to consider when determining whether you can afford a particular venue.
