Welcome to my blog. On this page you will find articles I personally write about the photography industry and my work. You will also see blogs showing the photos from many of my photo sessions.
Hiring a wedding photographer can be a little scary. It is natural to have a lot of questions prior to making the final decision on who will photograph your wedding. This series of articles by Lori Black Photography is meant to answer some of those common wedding photography questions.
Here are the questions to be addressed in this series:
Selecting your photographer may be one of your most important and most difficult decisions. There are a lot of photographers out there who want to be hired by you. So you have a lot to choose from.
The first thing you need to decide is how much money you want to spend for a photographer. This will greatly narrow down your choices. For example if you want to spend $2,000, you can knock out all photographers who charge more than that from consideration.
The second factor is deciding the style of photographs you want. You don’t want to hire a photographer whose style of photography is a style you don’t like.
This can be a tough decision. Obviously, the more hours you want the more money you are going to spend. Figure out your timetable for your day. What time will you start getting ready? What time does the ceremony and reception begin? Are you going to do your family formal portraits before the wedding or afterward? Answers to these questions will help you determine how much time you need.
Many soon-to-be brides want a second photographer. Hiring a second will again cost you more money. Think carefully before you decide to hire one. You should think about what parts of the day the second photographer can shoot that your primary photographer would be unable to shoot.
Nearly all couples whose wedding I photograph do not order a wedding album. This is a decision that is entirely up to you. Considerations include how much you want to spend on photography and how you want to view your wedding photos in the future.
