WEDDING PLANNING SEASON BEGINS

Wedding planning season is in high gear, and a part of wedding planning for many couples is attending bridal shows.

Moments in Time Images this month participated in two bridal shows – one at the Cornhusker Hotel in Lincoln and one at the Embassy Suites in Lincoln. Both brought out lots and lots of couples getting married and shopping for wedding vendors to complete their wedding planning.

The goal for vendors at these wedding shows is to get business. They want to show off their services to couples looking for them. It used to be that vendors would book business at these shows. That doesn’t happen so much anymore. For couples, it is their way of shopping around. They want to pick up information, take it home and look at it before making any decisions on vendors.

As a result, I’ve changed my attitude about these shows. I used to think of it as unsuccessful if no weddings were booked the day of the show. Now I look at it as a way to get couples to take a look at Moments in Time Images as their potential photographer and/or videographer.

The hardest part of participating in these shows is the setup and tear down of the display booth. I usually arrive a few hours early, if for no other reason than to get access to a cart to roll in the display materials. Moments in Time Images displays canvas portraits of wedding images, banners, signs and screens. This time, we had a TV playing DVDs from past wedding videos. I also had a computer monitor playing a slide show of wedding images.
We had lots of couples stopping at our booth, filling out informational slips and taking brochures as part of their planning process. Attempts will be made to contact some of them, but contacting them is also difficult as I find that many future brides seem to not ever answer their phones!

So the waiting begins. We hope that some of these couples who showed interest in us will follow through and give us a call. Let the planning begin!
