The popularity of destination weddings

Destination weddings are very popular among couples looking for something different from their wedding.

The advantage of a destination wedding is that it can combine the wedding and the honeymoon. Basically, couples are going on vacation and getting married. These weddings typically are held in a more picturesque setting than couples likely can find in their own hometown.

Another advantage is that the resort that organizes the destination wedding usually will provide all that’s needed. This can also be a disadvantage, which is where my opinion comes in.

Destination weddings usually provide a photographer to document the ceremony. It’s often part of the destination package. However more couples are recognizing the risk in doing this and are bringing their own photographers to the ceremony.

Bring your own photographer

Think about it. Would you want a photographer you know nothing about and whose work you have never seen be allowed to photograph your wedding?

I consider it a huge risk because you don’t know what you are getting. There’s a good chance you could get your photos back and be extremely disappointed in how they turned out. You don’t know how much experience this photographer has. For all you know the person could be nothing more than a resort employee with a camera.

If your photos are important to you, I consider it the best idea for you to choose your photographer and bring him or her along on the trip. This will mean that you will have to pay for the travel expenses so it will cost more, but I consider it worth it rather than taking a risk that you will get bad photos.

Most couples choose destination weddings in Mexico or a Caribbean island, or even Europe. But consider a closer location like the Colorado mountains for your destination wedding.
