What should you do for your wedding day makeup?

Brides are supposed to be beautiful. Many people believe that women need to wear makeup to look their best. So it goes without saying that brides need to have perfect makeup the day of their wedding.

But what if you are a woman who likes to go fresh faced. What if you don’t wear makeup? Should you wear it for your wedding?

My short answer to that is yes. However, I believe you can wear makeup in a way that doesn’t necessarily look like you are wearing it. As a wedding photographer who used to sell cosmetics. I usually wear it, especially when going out someplace.

But I know there’s a lot of women who don’t wear it and don’t like it. I remember several years ago during my selling days, I sold some cosmetics to a young woman about to get married. The problem is that she never wore makeup. And she looked adorable without it. I tried telling her that she should wear it on her wedding day and she bought several things from me. The trouble is that I heard that even though she bought it, she wouldn’t wear it. I attended her wedding and honestly don’t remember if she wore it or not, but she did look beautiful nonetheless.

Here is my suggestion as a wedding photographer to women who don’t wear cosmetics. Put on a little sheer foundation to even out your skin tone. Make it light coverage so you feel like you don’t have something on top of your face. Put on some light blush. Wear a little neutral-colored eye shadow with some mascara. Wear neutral colored lipstick.

That’s it. You will look fresh and pretty without feeling heavily made up. Your photos will look pretty and you will love the way you look in them.

Consider airbrushed makeup

What if you always wear makeup? I suggest you consider having your it professionally applied on your wedding day. Go a week early for a practice session and wear look you normally wear so your makeup artist has an idea of what you like. This will allow her to discuss with you what you are comfortable with and what you want.

Bring photos of wedding looks you see in magazines or on Pinterest so your artist gets an idea of the look you want. She will be able to tell you if that look will work on your face or not. After you leave your practice session, go out for the evening. You’re prepared for it and it will also test how long your look will last.

Airbrushed makeup seems to be the rage these days. I have seen brides get airbrushed and I admit it looks fabulous. An airbrush artist can come to your hotel or wherever you are getting ready and apply your makeup.
