Welcome to my blog. On this page you will find articles I personally write about the photography industry and my work. You will also see blogs showing the photos from many of my photo sessions.
When Suite One Eleven opened three years ago for weddings, the mother and son who run the place wanted to offer something different.
They spent a year researching prior to opening the venue at 6891 A St #111 in the Clocktower shopping center in east Lincoln. They found that most wedding venues provided the venue but the engaged couple was responsible for taking care of everything else, like linens, lighting and audio visual needs.
They wanted something different, something less confusing. So they opened Suite One Eleven as a full service venue that provides everything an engaged couple would need for their wedding, said owner Susan Coffey.
For one flat fee, an engaged couple gets the room, access to the bridal prep room, choice of linens, choice of customized lights, a crystal ball for the dance floor, bride and groom thrones, audio visual and even centerpieces if needed.
Susan says she thought this concept was much less confusing then offering a bunch of add-ons, and apparently the couples booking the venue agree. Every weekend in 2019 is booked and bookings are being made into 2020.
Susan and her son Blaine took over the space three years ago after the previous occupier of the space quit doing business. The Coffeys completely gutted the space with the goal of designing a contemporary, urban chic type feel. Perhaps the most striking feature is the 20-foot granite bar.
Other features include a great lounge area and the convenient bridal suite where brides can come and get ready for the day.
Suite One Eleven also provides a “selfie” station complete with backdrops where wedding guests can take their photos. Also available are photo booth props for people to use for their own photos.
Suite One Eleven is 8,000 square feet but started with 5,000. It acquired a neighboring bay to expand its ballroom another so that another 150 or so people could be seated. It now seats 400 guests.
I recently photographed a wedding reception at Suite One Eleven and loved the atmosphere. The bride says she too loved the atmosphere and the lights and decorations.
“We loved it because everything that they provided there and the space makes for a perfect night,” she said.
She especially loved the bridal suite, where brides and their attendants can get ready and have a great celebration.
