Welcome to my blog. On this page you will find articles I personally write about the photography industry and my work. You will also see blogs showing the photos from many of my photo sessions.
I’m a wedding photographer, and as such I wanted to provide some is our specialty, so here’s some helpful information when you search for yours.
All couples getting married want wedding photography, but the type of photography they often choose can be quite different. Some couples want very simple, inexpensive photography — say for about $500. Others pay $5,000 or even more for quality photography.
The first thing you should do before selecting a wedding photographer is decide your budget. You can find a photographer to fit just about any budget, but remember, you get what you pay for. The most expensive photographers are likely the most experienced. Consider how important experience is to you. Having years of experience doesn’t necessarily mean better, but it can be an important consideration.
Determine what you want to spend, then look at the photographers in that price range and see which one you like the best.
Decide what type of photos you want. Do you want traditional and classic? Do you want story-telling or photo-journalistic? Do you want creative and edgy? Then look at the websites of different photographers and get a sense for their style.
Essentially, a traditional photographer will take the photos that everyone would expect to have taken at a wedding. You will see traditional poses with guidance from the photographer. That is different from a photojournalistic photographer, who likes to capture the event as it occurs with little intervention and little direction as to poses. Many photographers provide a little of both.
