Welcome to my blog. On this page you will find articles I personally write about the photography industry and my work. You will also see blogs showing the photos from many of my photo sessions.
When the time comes when you want professional photography, I think it can be helpful to know more about the person you’ll be working with.
So, here’s a little background about myself that will help you get to know me a little better.
I didn’t grow up intending to be a photographer. I didn’t go into my career intending to be a photographer. However, I have had long had an entrepreneurial spirit that has led me into business.
It probably started as a kid. Aside from the typical Kool-Aid stand kid stuff, I remember trying to sell rocks to make money. They were just ordinary rocks, but I put tin foil around them to make them look special. I admit it – I tricked kids into thinking they were buying a shiny rock when all it was was a regular rock covered in foil. A few decades later I’m not proud of my dishonest behavior, but hey I was just a little kid who didn’t know better.
When I was a little older I started shooting wedding video. I bought a camcorder and charged $100 to videotape a wedding. I called the business Moment s in Time. After I quit that I went into the traditional work world, where I stayed for several years.
But that entrepreneurial spirit remained. In more recent years I started a speed dating business. I set up events where singles would come and meet each other. I’m happy to say that the business resulted in several marriages. After 10 years or so the business burned out and I closed it down.
A few years after that I had the opportunity to join my brother, who had resurrected the wedding video business. He shot a few videos and asked if I wanted to help. I was in a boring day job so agreed, thinking it would be fun.
Since both of us had had some background in photography, I decided to add photography to the business, which was now called Moments in Time. That was a few years ago, and we keep growing.
